Thyroid

The thyroid is an incredibly important gland in the body, controlling your basal metabolic rate (literally how quickly or slowly your body can use energy), and being part of the hormonal cascade affecting the adrenal glands and reproductive organs.

Thyroid disease is an increasingly common problem in our society.  Our own Director, Emily, is one of the many that have an autoimmune disease affecting the thyroid.  Having an under-active or over-active thyroid can cause a lot of damage and even be life threatening if left undiagnosed and untreated.

Common symptoms of imbalance may include: weight gain, fatigue, depression, mood swings, fluid retention, pre-menstrual tension, painful and irregular periods, changes in sleep patterns and sweating.

You can read more about the thyroid in these blog posts.  Our practitioners have a keen interest in thyroid and hormone health, and treat these issues efficiently by utilising necessary testing to clearly see what's going on in your body.
