IBS & Gut Health

Much disease begins with the gut, as without a correctly functioning digestive system, nutrition and immunity begins to decline.  Our digestive system is responsible for breaking down food, absorbing nutrients, and excreting waste. Much can go wrong in this cascade of events, and digestive issues are the absolute most overlooked problem in society today.  Self-prescribed antacids and prescribed antacids (PPIs like Nexium) leave more problems than they answer.

At Verve, we have a special interest in digestive health, as we understand this system has to be working optimally for any treatment to have optimal results, and so we can start to rely on the diet as a therapeutic tool.  In regards to IBS, we do further testing to ensure that bacterial infections haven't gone undiagnosed, and that you have more control over your diet for long-term self-management.  Over 50% of IBS cases actually have undiagnosed SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth), which requires a different course of treatment.

Common symptoms of gut imbalance include: bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, cramping, irritable bowel (IBS), irregular bowel motions, reflux, fatigue, poor appetite, and leaky gut syndrome (intestinal hyper-permeability).

Food sensitivity testing plays a huge role in making helpful change to the diet, and reducing inflammatory load.
